SC/ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, MINORITY AND EWS CELL

Upon the recommendation of the UGC, it is mandated that Universities/Colleges/Institutes form a cell that looks into the interests of students belonging to SC/ST/OBC-A &OBC-B, EWS and Minority groups to assist and support them in Higher Educational Institutes. The main aim of the SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, Minority and EWS Cell of Surendranath Law College is to ensure affirmative action by effectively upholding and implementing the Reservation Policy as stipulated by the respective governments. The SC, ST, Other Backward Class, Minority and EWS Cell of Surendranath Law College ensures equitable and accessible space for learning to students belonging to the reserved category and minority students.

ROLE AND DUTIES OF SC/ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, MINORITY AND EWS CELL

To ensure affirmative action by effectively upholding and implementing the Reservation Policy as stipulated by the government.
To ensure equitable and accessible space for learning to students belonging to the reserved category and minority students.
To continuously monitor and implement the reservation policy of Government of India and to comply with UGC regulations.
To ensure proper implementation of reservation policy during admission, stipend distribution and other relevant cases.
To devise remedial or tutorial classes for the students belonging to the SC, ST, OBC EWS, and other minority categories.

To extend special support to the financially backward students belonging to the SC, ST, OBC, EWS and other minority categories.
To ensure that students from SC, ST, OBC, EWS and other minority categories and financially backward communities regularly receive scholarships that they are entitled to.
To create a grievance cell for the students and staff of the SC, ST, OBC and other minority categories.
To maintain the true spirit of equality amongst all students and staff and report any kind of discriminatory behaviour and harassment to the undersigned.
To ascertain overall welfare and equitable access for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and other minority categories so that they can participate in every activity in the college in a full-fledged manner.
