Mooting can best be described as an activity that comes closest to the professional scenario that a lawyer handles, while still studying at a law school. It involves identifying legal issues out of a factual scenario, doing exhaustive research on the issues and the techniques of advancing and expressing these arguments in a real court-like scenario. Mooting also involves drafting extensive written submissions and placing them before a bench of eminent judges. It is an essential club that prepares students to embark on their professional journey.

Surendranath Law College has a vibrant and active mooting culture. The Moot Court Club of Surendranath Law College seeks to channelize the students on the mooting path to professionally prepare them for their career aspirations. The primary goal of the Moot Court Club is to train students in oral advocacy, legal drafting skills and other essential skills to mould students into an adept mooter. The Club educates students and especially freshers about the nuances of mooting through a detailed orientation programme.
