PRINCIPAL’S WELFARE FUND / CONCESSION COMMITTEE

Principal’s Welfare Fund of Surendranath Law College is a voluntary fund created with the objective of providing financial assistance to less privileged section of the students of the institution. Providing financial assistance to eligible and needy students is crucial for fostering equity in higher education. It ensures that financial challenges and obstacles do not hinder talented and deserving individuals from pursuing higher education. The Welfare Fund is particularly inclined to provide financial assistance to students for cases such as emergent medical assistance, purchase of books and study material, tuition fee support and concessions, participation in educational excursions and study tours, hostel fee support and any other comparable needs of students. This initiative has received overwhelming support from the Vice Principal and faculty members of the college. The services provided by the Principal’s Welfare Fund plays a significant role in providing a supportive framework to enhance students’ participation and fulfil the objectives of equal opportunity in the academic curriculum of the college.


  • FREESHIP/TUITION FEE WAIVER
    • Full freeship of tuition fee is provided on merit-cum-means criteria to economically backward families subject to fulfilment of all eligibility conditions.
    • Full freeship of tuition fee is provided on merit-cum means criteria to students with disabilities (specially-abled students) who also belong to economically backward families, subject to fulfilment of all eligibility conditions.
    • Freeship is limited to Tuition Fee only and will be applicable from 2nd semester onwards. All other fees will have to be borne by the students.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR FREESHIP
  • Attendance: Must attain minimum 75% attendance in the semester
  • Academic Performance: Must have scored minimum 60% marks in the last university semester examination
  • Family Income: The upper ceiling for family income has been fixed at Rs.2,50,000/- per annum.
  • Documents Required
    • Copy of Marksheet of last examination passed.
    • Family Income Certificate issued by any Govt. Officer not below the rank of Jt. B.D.O. in case of rural areas /Executive Officer in case of Municipality/Deputy Commissioner of Corporation/Group –A Gazetted Officer
    • Bank Passbook (Bank Account seeded with Aadhaar and DBT enabled).
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR FREESHIP TO DIFFERENTLY-ABLED STUDENTS
  • Attendance: Must attain minimum 75% attendance in the semester
  • Academic Performance: Must have scored minimum 60% marks in the last university semester examination
  • Family Income: The upper ceiling for family income has been fixed at Rs.2,50,000/- per annum.
  • Disability Criteria: Only such students would be eligible for freeship who suffer from not less than 40 % of relevant disability. (List of Disabilities included is as per Rights of Persons with disabilities Act, 2016).
  • Documents Required
    • Disability Certificate- issued by Department of Health & Family Welfare Government of West Bengal
    • Copy of Marksheet of last examination passed.
    • Family Income Certificate issued by any Govt. Officer not below the rank of Jt. B.D.O. in case of rural areas /Executive Officer in case of Municipality/Deputy Commissioner of Corporation/Group –A Gazetted Officer
    • Bank Passbook (Bank Account seeded with Aadhaar and DBT enabled).

Terms and Conditions

  • As the payment will be made by direct beneficiary transfer (DBT) only, furnishing of Bank details of the applicant, i.e. A/C No., Bank Name, IFS Code of Bank is mandatory.
  • Candidates opting for these scholarships and found eligible, will not be allowed to enjoy any other governmental (central/state) scholarship or stipend. Students who are already receiving a stipend under any kind of scholarship such as Kanyashree 2(K2), Kanyashree 3 (K3), Oasis Scholarship, Aikyashree Scholarship, Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship, National Scholarship (NSP) or any other scholarship at the state/ national level not listed above will NOT be eligible to apply.
  • Freeship of tuition fee can be terminated in case of indiscipline or misconduct of the recipient student.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Eligible students can apply for free-ship (Tuition fee waiver) by submitting an application addressed to the vice Principal, along with all the necessary supporting documents.
