EXTENSION ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

The Goal of the Extension Activities Committee is “Education through Community Service”.

The committee aims to develop a sense of responsibility towards nation building and national integration among students through their engagement in social work. This is expected to deepen the understanding of the social environment and enrich students’ personality through actual participation in the day-to-day life of the society. This process of learning is not only a desirable supplement to classroom education, but develops a sense of social responsibility, tolerance, team-work and cooperation amongst students. In this way, the committee aims to play an important role in moulding students into socially-responsible citizens.

ROLE AND DUTIES OF EXTENSION ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

i. To arouse social consciousness of the students by providing them opportunities to work with people at the grassroots level in order to develop an awareness about social realities and concern for the well-being of the community by engaging in creative and constructive social action.
ii. To provide a rich and meaningful learning experience to students in order to make their education holistic and experiential.
iii. To develop skill in students that is needed in the exercise of democratic leadership and programme development which can be of help for self-employment.
iv. To make students understand the community in which they work, and to understand themselves in relation to their community.
v. To develop a sense of civic responsibility in students and use their knowledge in finding practical solutions for individual and community level problems.

vi. To gain skill in mobilizing community participation and acquire leadership qualities with a democratic attitude.
vii. To organise a wide range of activities, which includes the regular activities and special camping programmes such as Blood Donation Camps, Health Check-up Camp, Eye Check-up Camp etc.
viii. To Celebrate all important days of national and international significance.
ix. To organise orientation camps and ensure the participation of students.
x. To organize different social/extension activities in consultation with N.G.Os and partner organisations.
